The original founder and owner sought to maximize the value of this mature, industry-leading company through a liquidity event, specifically a sell-side exit strategy, after building the company over several decades and continuously building it through the transaction period.

The owner engaged Focus Strategies to advise and lead an exit transaction process. Over the course of several months, Focus Strategies worked hand-in-hand with the owner to proactively assemble a buyer’s list, sell-side marketing materials, and further due diligence. Focus Strategies pre-selected more than 50 private equity buyers within their vast network that were suitable buyers for the proposed transaction. Two key challenges of the transaction were the complex nature of the specialty operating company and the extended reach of the company both nationally and internationally. Due to these operating and geographic complexities, Focus Strategies took an above and beyond lead role in coordinating immense efforts between legal counsel, accounting and the seller’s finance team. Focus Strategies obtained 6 binding Letters of Intent (LOI). Thereafter, a single best fit private equity buyer was meticulously narrowed from the group, with whom the sell-side transaction was completed.
Both the owner and the new private equity buyer were pleased with the transaction process and completed outcome. New ownership partnered with the management team and continues to grow the thriving business.
